A sneaky return

March 3rd, 2010

HELLO!!!

Apologies for allowing this to morph into yet another elephant in the graveyard of the blogosphere.

There was a lull.  No-one likes to read about a lull.  I didn’t want to bore you with a lull.  See, even now, you’re getting sick of the word ‘lull’.  Imagine if I’d been talking about the lull for the past few months of lull.

But things are looking up.

My new play, Death and the Monster, is to play in Chapter’s Main Theatre for two nights (24th & 25th) in June (www.inkyquillproductions.co.uk).  Cracking venue, held in high regard.

As such, I’ll be on the blog a lot more over the coming months.

You lucky lot.

It went swimmingly…

October 4th, 2009

Howdi ho there, Bloggees.

Apologies for the lack of bloggage recently, it’s been a rare old time.

The play, the big debut, went swimmingly. Ridiculously hard work with tech run finishing twenty minutes before the start of the show, but look at this lovely review: Ta-Da

With next play not until March or April, we’re back to the sketches and a dilemma or two. Radio sketches are grand and stations are taking them, but the first stage sketch rehearsal, Project Bricking It, didn’t go too well. As a performer, my vocal work is weak – a bit like Mickey Mouse. On Helium. With valium. We may have to branch out for a performer, a real one, but then the organisational problems kick in. Arghh.

Arghh.

Invisible waves in the air…

September 6th, 2009

Why hi.

Without my specs, things tend to mush into the paintings of the impressionists.  It was in such a glasses-less state that I alighted at Cadoxton (by Barry) station last week.  I could be wrong, but I think it backs onto Mordor; or, failing that, Port Talbot.  So if it is impressionism, it’s bad impressionism.  Like Jon Culshaw doing an impression of Rory Bremner bringing out a Blair sketch from the paddock.

Why were we there, I sense you holler.  Well, dear web, stop being so impatient.  It was to do a radio show, that’s all.  A real one.  On air and everything.

Our dear friends at Bro Radio FM (http://www.brofm.com/) decided to hear our plugging of the new Inky Quill Production AWAY NOW TO WAR and also, to hear a sketch of ours.  We know at least eight people were listening, EIGHT! Eight potential tentacles to slither in our inkiness.  World domination beckons.  (See www.inkyquillproductions.co.uk for link to sketch).

Two weeks to the play now, and another turd has just programmed ‘fan’ into it’s sat nav.  I’d better dash.

Inky Quill Productions

August 31st, 2009

Why Hi There,

The old company thingy is going well – www.inkyquillproductions.co.uk is now an official website.  Oh yes.  Sure, it’s still in development.  But gosh darn it, it’s there.

admin@inkyquillproductions.co.uk will now direct your messages to us too, and we can be located on twitter here.  If that’s not enough, we have a new logo

Pretty?

Oh, and we’re on Bro Radio here at around 19:30 tomorrow.  A sketch awaits, and some chitter chatter.

I’ve hawked myself a little there, I realise.  So how’s you?

Illness and grant-less but by Jove we look good

August 6th, 2009

Howdi Ho

I’ve been pummelled by a bout of labyrinthitis these past few weeks, and whilst fortunately clearing me of the dreaded plague of pigs, it instead means I’ve taken to dressing like a latex-clad David Bowie and messing about with crystals.

The rest of the Inky Quill team have stepped into the breach though, and saved the day.  Our rehearsals for Away Now to War in September steam-roller ahead, despite beyond last minute cast changes and swapsies, and our sketch writing is well underway again.  We sadly missed out on Ideas Tap’s ideasfund grant after a shortlisting but we’ve swung the full day in out theatre for a get-in day for free so happy swings and fruitful round-abouts.

Dead stuck with my current play script mind – it seems to have ground to a halt three quarters of the way through.  I bought a big whiteboard though, so that should sort me.

Well helloooo

August 2nd, 2009

Hi there,

I’ve been blogging along via my own space here but then lo and behold, the London Comedy Writers come a’knocking and here I am.  Selling out.

Hey ho.  Right – I’ve set up a theatre company soley committed to comedy plays – and genuine comedy plays too, none of this ‘holding up a mirror to life’ nonsense.

We’re doing sketches too, and our first show will be on iTunes in November.

I won’t lie to you, I’m groping in the dark – but sometimes, well sometimes that can be fun.

I’ll keep you posted.
