BBC Radio 4 Newsjack

Newsjack, Radio 4 Extra's topical comedy sketch show that anyone can write for is back for its 18th series.

Papatango New Writing Prize

Deadline: 28 February 2018

Open for submissions of new plays and all entries will receive personal feedback. 

The winner will undergo a process of Research & Development culminating in a full production by Papatango at Southwark Playhouse in Autumn 2018, with publication by Nick Hern Books. The writer will receive 10% of the gross box office, and a £6000 commission to develop a new play.

One Eyed Dog Films – unsolicited submissions window

Deadline: 28 February 2018

One Eyed Dog Films are looking for new feature film and TV projects to produce. They will be taking unsolicited submissions throughout January and February 2018.

To apply, please send either a completed feature-length screenplay with a short synopsis, or a TV pilot with a short treatment detailing the rest of the episodes. They are not looking for any specific genre, and applications are open to writers regardless of where you are based. It is free to submit your script.

The Exeter Factor

Deadline: 28 February 2018

The 2018 Exeter Writers Short Story Competition is open for original, unpublished short stories on any theme. The maximum word length is 3,000 words. Any genre, except children’s writing is welcome. The entry fee per story is £6

First prize is £500, second prize is £250 and third prize is £100. There is also a £100 prize for the best story by a Devon writer.

British Theatre Challenge 2018 

Deadline: 30 March 2018

Five theatre scripts will be chosen to be produced in a London venue. One of the winning plays will also be chosen to be made into a short film.

Their website has a large following on social media and published entries are eligible for a good share of any advertising revenue generated from that page. Submit an original article of 250-300 words via their online form and the team will be in touch if they want to publish you.
