The Sitcom Mission

Deadline: 30 April 2017

The Sitcom Mission seeks out the best 15 minutes of original comedy - exciting, original characters with an individual voice and a plot that draws people in. The showcase is an incredibly effective tool for getting your work seen by the people who matter. The Sitcom Mission is judged by comedy commissioners and attracts top producers from the industry.

The Writers Avenue Theatre Company seek scripts from young writers (aged 18-30) based on the theme of the seven deadly sins or the seven heavenly virtues.

The Creative Comedy Project

This competition is looking for an original piece of comedy that deals with one or more of the themes from Meera Syal's Anita and Me - a coming-of-age tale that follows Meena, a young girl growing up in the only Punjabi family in a 1970s Black Country mining village and her friendship with an impossibly cool new resident.

Northern Film School short scripts

The Northern Film School is looking for a series of 4-5 minute short films that their BA Filmmaking students can make during their course. 

They want film scripts that are interesting and challenging in nature but simple to make. Your scripts can be on any subject or theme and they are looking for compelling storytelling based in the Yorkshire region with minimal characters and set.

BBC Writersroom comedy scripts

Deadline: 15 May 2017

The BBC Writersroom comedy script submission window opens from 17 April. You are guaranteed to have at least ten pages of your script read and this time you can chose which ten pages those are. Select writers will be invited to join the Comedy Room 2017 development programme.

NewsThump, the spoof news and current affairs site, continues to welcome unsolicted material from funny people. Their website has a large following on social media and published entries are eligible for a good share of any advertising revenue generated from that page. Submit an original article of 250-300 words via their online form and the team will be in touch if they want to publish you.
