NEWS

FOOLISH: Classic TV sitcom Only Fools and Horses is to be remade for a US audience. The ABC network is to make a pilot US version of the British show, which starred David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst and ran from 1981 to 2003. The script will be penned by Scrubs writers Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley. ABC said it would follow the same formula of two brothers who "concoct outrageous, morally questionable get-rich-quick schemes in their quest to become millionaires". If the pilot is picked up for a full series, it will be broadcast in the US later this year.

YALLI: Shed Media Group has launched a new entertainment and comedy production company, Yalli. Based at Shed's London offices, Yalli will produce entertainment, factual entertainment and comedy shows, working closely with Shed parent company Warner Bros. Yalli has already been commissioned to produce two new comedy pilots for the BBC. Impractical Jokers is a UK version of a format produced in the US and The Ginge, the Geordie and The Geek is a new sketch show.

GREENLIGHT:The CW has picked up three new hour long dramas from J.J. Abrams, Mark Harmon and Vampire Diaries producers Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain. Here are the descriptions of the new shows… J.J. Abrams' Shelter: "[It is] set at an historic New England summer resort where the new and returning staff attend to the practical, emotional and often comical needs of the guests while navigating friendships, rivalries and romances of their own." Mark Harmon's Joey Dakota: "The romantic-time travel musical revolves around a documentary filmmaker who travels back in time to the 1990s where she meets and falls in love with the rock star subject of her film. When she unexpectedly returns to present day, she must find her way back to the past to reunite with her love and prevent his untimely death." Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain's The Selection: "An epic romance set 300 years in the future. The project centers on a poor young woman who is chosen by lottery to participate in a competition to become the next queen of a war-torn nation at a crossroads."

MOCKING: NBC has changed the title of its forthcoming reboot of The Munsters. The project, from Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller, will now be known as Mockingbird Lane, according to TVLine. The new title comes from the Munster family address at 1313 Mockingbird Lane.

WEST END STORY: Danny DeVito will make his West End debut later this year, it has been announced. The Hollywood actor will star in a new production of The Sunshine Boys alongside Richard Griffiths. The play by Neil Simon follows two veterans who return for one last performance together. It was first staged on Broadway in 1972 before being made into a film starring Walter Matthau and George Burns, with Burns receiving an Oscar for his performance.

TRAILERS OF THE WEEK

From Academy Award nominated director Roko Belic comes his latest film, HAPPY. HAPPY takes us on a journey from the swamps of Louisiana to the slums of Kolkata in search of what really makes people happy. Combining real life stories of people from around the world and powerful interviews with the leading scientists in happiness research, HAPPY explores the secrets behind our most valued emotion.

In GIRL IN PROGRESS Grace (Eva Mendes) is a single mom. She is too busy juggling work, bills, and the very married Dr. Hartford (Matthew Modine), to give her daughter, Ansiedad (Cierra Ramirez) the attention she desperately needs.

Director Tony Kaye's (AMERICAN HISTORY X) long-awaited film DETACHMENT stars Academy Award(R) winner Adrien Brody as Henry Barthes, a substitute teacher who conveniently avoids any emotional connections by never staying anywhere long enough to form a bond with either his students or colleagues.
