GETTING OUT is a fast paced, highly physical one-act comedy set in a London law firm at the height of the credit crunch. With eleven of your favourite office characters, ranging from a sleazy American managing partner to an Elvis impersonating office junior, from a bimbo secretary with a leaking breast implant to a socially inept handy man, Getting Out’s highly talented cast display multi-role playing at its best - think John Godber meets Green Wing. Playing heavily on the many awkward work-based scenarios we all find ourselves in – toilets, lifts, taxis and of course office romances, this play covers it all without losing the depth and sincerity of feeling which makes it all the more hilarious. Released at a perfect time to have a laugh at city life, it ultimately highlights a theme very close to every office worker’s heart - ‘Getting Out’!
Reviews
"a clearly talented new writer who demonstrates poise and comic timing" - The Stage - read the full review.
"It is a rip-roaringly vulgar comedy and is a real treat even though sensitive folk might cringe at the language, the rude jokes and lack of political correctness. This is after all what comedy used to be about!" - What's On Stage - read the full review.
Getting Out had a rehearsed reading in 2008 and received a 4 star review from RemoteGoat. Writer Sarah Henley later reworked the script and brought it to the London Comedy Writers where based on the overwhelmingly positive feedback she continued to shop it around until it was offered at 3 week run at The Lion and Unicorn Theatre.
