Short Story

Competition: The Pedestrian Essay Competition
Run By: The Pedestrian
Genre: Essay
Prize: $500
Deadline Extended: 15th September 2010

For the latest essay contest, you are invited to submit a familiar essay on the subject of a particular game, sport, or other activity in which one plays. A small fraction of possible subjects include cricket, volleyball, or golf; cribbage, backgammon, or chess; Pong, Donkey Kong, or Pokémon; four-square, kickball, or capture the flag; Double Dutch, yo-yo, or charades; croquet, shuffleboard, or petanque.

The winning essay will be published in the December, 2010 issue of The Pedestrian (On Play) and will receive a $500 prize.

Would you prefer to submit an essay on a different aspect of the theme of play? Or, perhaps, on another subject that relates to the theme only tangentially? The Pedestrian will consider for publication other essays that are outside the scope of this contest. Simply submit your essay as a general submission.

We recommend that contestants take into consideration what The Pedestrian is about. The first issue of The Pedestrian will be released, in print and online, June 28.
