Twisted Tails is a competition specifically designed to satisfy our craving for stories of the ‘Tales of the Unexpected’ type. While we’re not necessarily looking for a devastating denouement, what we do hope for is to be surprised. It’s as simple as that. The surprise itself can be as gentle or as traumatic as you like – hopefully we won’t see it coming!

Entries for the June competition will be accepted from April 1st. We are offering four cash prizes for the winning stories, along with publication for those and the six runners-up.

Guidelines
Stories can be in any genre from light romance to dark horror, but they must have a thought-provoking or mind-grabbing ending. Stories with graphic sex or violence for its own sake will be detected and discarded.

Rules

1. There are four competitions annually, and thus four deadlines: the last day of March, June, September and December. More than one entry is acceptable, but each must be paid for.
2. Winners will be notified by e-mail within four weeks of deadline date. All entries will be acknowledged.
3. Eligibility: Entrants must be over 17 and non-professional, (our definition of professional is having had either a novel or a collection of stories published).
4. Copyright will always remain with the author.
5. This year's competitions will be judged by Nuala Ní Chonchúir, fiction writer and poet.
6. No judge or family member of organizers are permitted to enter.
