Ever wanted to write a story and have it published? Well, here is your chance!

Scottish & Northern Equestrian is running a writing competition offering you the opportunity to have a story published.

You can submit a fictional story with an equestrian flavour in either or both of the following two categories:

1. 1,000 word coffee break story

2. 5,000-plus short story or novella

The winner in each category will have their submission published in Scottish & Northern Equestrian magazine. The winning submission in category 2 will be published over more than one issue of SNE.

Format for submissions: Double line spacing, wide margins, 12 point font.

MAKE SURE you include the title of your story both on your entry form and on your story. Please do not include your name on your story as entries will be judged anonymously.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
1 Entrant and must not have been previously published in any format.

2 Submissions will be judged by the SNE editorial team. The Managing Editor’s decision is final.

3 Submissions suitable for reading by SNE readership, i.e. all age groups and will only be published if deemed suitable for publication.

4 Prize money will only be awarded if submission is of acceptable standard for publication.

5 SNE retain the right to edit submissions where necessary.

6 Multiple entries will be accepted, but each entry must be submitted as a separate entry.

7 Employees of Hillaine Publishing Ltd or its associates and their immediate families are specifically excluded from entering the competition.

8 Entries must be submitted by the closing date for submissions.

9 SNE reserve the right to disqualify any entry for any reason but in particular if any of the rules have been broken or if the material supplied is offensive or illegal.

10 SNE will not be responsible for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, loss, defect, delay, theft, alteration or any other problem arising in the submission of entries caused by circumstances out with their control.

11 Entrants retain all rights to their typescripts, except in the case of prize-winners whose submissions will be accepted on a one time rights basis with copyright reverting back to the author once the story has been published.

12 No personal data relating to entrants will be disclosed to any third party without the express permission of the entrant.
