Catherine Howard is launching a new SHORT STORY COMPETITION with a twist.
There's no theme and no restrictive word count AND PRIZES INCREASE ACCORDING TO HOW MANY PEOPLE ENTER
The entry from says max 3000 words, but if you want to send in something longer, that's fine.
FIRST DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES IS JULY 31st (It was going to be 28th June as that's mine, and King Henry's, birthday, but competing with the Bridport - maybe not)
FIRST PRIZE at least £100 (PLUS £50 TO YOUR CHOSEN CHARITY)
SECOND PRIZE at least £50
THIRD PRIZE £20
PLUS RAFFLE PRIZE
THE PRIZE MONEY INCREASES ACCORDING TO THE NUMBER OF ENTRIES RECEIVED. ONCE 150 ENTRIES HAVE BEEN RECEIVED, THE PRIZES GO UP - SO
150 ENTRIES MEANS A FIRST PRIZE OF £150, SECOND £75, AND THIRD, £25.
200 ENTRIES MEANS A FIRST PRIZE OF £200, SECOND £100, AND THIRD £40.
250 ENTRIES MEANS A FIRST PRIZE OF £300, SECOND £150, AND THIRD £50.
RUNNER UP PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED AT MY DISCRETION.
EXTRA RAFFLE PRIZE
ALL ENTRIES WILL BE ALLOCATED A NUMBER. AT CLOSE OF JUDGING ONE OF THESE WILL BE SELCTED AT RANDOM AND WILL RECEIVE A SMALL PRIZE SO EVEN IF YOUR STORY DOESN'T WIN, YOU MIGHT STILL COME OUT A WINNER!
STORIES CAN BE ANY LENGTH FROM 500 TO 5000 WORDS, THE ONLY RESTRICTION IS THAT THEY MUST BE AIMED AT ADULTS. Remember, a good 500 word story will always beat an average 5000 word one. It's qulaity not quantity that counts.
