Short Story

Competition: FictionGarden International Short Story Competition
Run By: FictionGarden
Genre: short story
Prize: £100
Deadline: 30th October 2011

Write a Ghost Story and enter it in the first FictionGarden International Short Story Competition.

Responses to our recent short story questionnaire were overwhelmingly in favour of a FictionGarden writing competition, so here it is!

The competition is for stories up to 2500 words with a ghostly theme. Entries can be entirely fictitious or based on a genuine ghostly event. The approach can be sceptical or believing, humorous or scary, and the setting can be modern, historical, or futuristic. The outcome can be a logical, scientific explanation or leave the reader believing ghosts are real.

Winning entries will be published on FictionGarden during 2012, and will be awarded prize money as follows:

1st place: £100 (approx $166 US) / 2nd place: £40 (approx $66 US) / 3rd place: £20 (approx $33 US)

Entries should be submitted as attachments to either an e-mail or the entry form on this page. Please address e-mail entries to GhostStoryComp@yahoo.co.uk rather than the usual FictionGarden email address.

There is no limit to the number of entries any individual can make, but no more than two stories should be submitted together (ie, a maximum of two file attachments with each e-mail or entry form).

Entry fee: £3.00 (approx $5.00 US) for one story, or £5.00 (approx $8.33 US) for two entries submitted at the same time
